Donor sperm shortage
Due to changes in the laws surrounding the donation of gametes in the UK, we are now experiencing an acute shortage of donor sperm available for purchase and use in treatment. NURTURE is trying to source new centres for the supply of donor sperm and to utilize any donor stocks as they become available. At present, there is a waiting list for patients who require donor sperm for IVF treatment, and we are currently unable to treat patients by IUI using donor sperm. The estimated current time of waiting on this list before treatment is approximately 6 months. Although we will endeavour to match physical characteristics this is not always possible given the current situation. Should you require further information regarding this please contact the embryologist at NURTURE.
If you are interested in becoming a sperm donor and are aged between 18 and 45, please contact the Andrology Laboratory, Fertility Clinic, Queens Medical Centre, telephone number 0115 9249924 extension 62749 or 62831 for more information.
